Truax earns certification from national organization

Dennis Truax, the head of the civil and environmental engineering department in Mississippi State’s Bagley College of Engineering, was recently named a Board Certified Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer (D.WRE) of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers (AAWRE).
Dennis Truax was recently named a Board Certified Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers.
The AAWRE is a subsidiary of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). AAWRE’s Board Certification program was developed to improve the practice, elevate the standards and advance the profession of water resources engineering.
The D.WRE board certification represents strong professional ethics and a commitment to life-long learning and continuing professional development. Since the start of AAWRE’s Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer program in October 2004, over 700 water resources engineers worldwide have qualified for the Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer Board Certification.
Truax first came to MSU in 1976 to pursue a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, and upon completion, went on to be an instructor. After completing his doctorate in the field in 1986, he was promoted to assistant professor. Nearly thirty years later in 2017, Truax was chosen to lead the department. He also holds the James T. White Chair.
Additionally, Truax has twice served on the American Society of Civil Engineers Board of Directors, and was responsible for launching the student chapter of MSU’s Engineers Without Borders.
