January 8, 2015

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Online programs in the Bagley College of Engineering at Mississippi State University entered the top 20 in U.S. News and World Report’s national Best Online Program rankings.

The organization lists the Bagley College as 20th among the 80 schools included in this year’s Best Online Graduate Engineering Program rankings. It is one of only two Southeastern Conference schools ranked in the top 20.

The college also ranks 14th in graduate computer information technology, while other university programs come in at No. 18 for distance Master of Business Administration and Nos. 38 and 107 for online graduate programs in business and education, respectively.

“The graduate distance programs in the Bagley College of Engineering are known for their quality, convenience and affordability,” interim dean Jason Keith said. “I’m proud of this ranking as it recognizes the tremendous efforts and dedication of our faculty and staff to our distance students.”

The Bagley College’s overall score ties it with Kansas State, Lawrence Technological University, Missouri University of Science and Technology, Texas Tech University and the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs.

U.S. News and World Report’s rankings are based on a school’s scores in five categories: student engagement, faculty credentials and training, students services and technology, peer reputation, and admissions selectivity. A program’s score is calculated using self-reported data and the results of a peer reputation survey completed by administrators at schools with online degree programs.

Established in 1933, U.S. News and World Report releases annual rankings of universities and individual academic programs from across the country. It first released rankings of online graduate programs in engineering in 2012. To access the complete rankings or find more information about U.S. News and World Report, visit www.usnews.com.
