  Alumnus benefits from his background

Even though he now lives, works and experiences great success in one of the biggest technology markets in the southeast, Danny Windham, a BCoE electrical engineering alumnus, remembers where he got his start and how beneficial a solid background can be. Throughout his career, which currently has him serving as chief executive officer of Digium in Huntsville, Ala., he has maintained a strong affiliation with MSU and the many engineers associated with the school.

“From the quality of the education I received, to the positive image employers have of the BCoE, to the lifelong friends I made while in school and the colleagues I’ve met that are connected with MSU, the university has played a very important role in my professional life,” Windham, an electrical engineering graduate, explained.

In his nearly 27-year career, Windham has had much success in the field of communications products and technology, much of which started when he co-founded Processing Telecom Technologies that, within just a few years, was purchased by ADTRAN, where he eventually became chief operating officer working with many MSU alumni, a common thread throughout his career and engineering in the southeast.

“In my experience, MSU graduates are universally recognized as being among the best of the best,” Windham said. “Selecting an engineering college can be a difficult decision, but my degree from MSU has opened doors for me, just as they will open for future graduates of the BCoE.”

In hopes of helping further advance the lives and careers of BCoE student, Windham is helping the department of electrical and computer engineering (ECE) enhance its learning environments. Full details of his contributions will be available in the upcoming spring 2008 issue of Momentum. For more information about ECE please visit www.ece.msstate.edu.
