BCoE responds to readers' comments

This past month we have enjoyed reviewing the responses generated by our Reader Opinion Survey. This was the first reader survey conducted by the Bagley College of Engineering (BCoE) and the number of respondents was very encouraging. Since many of you took the time to compose thoughtful responses, we wanted to take this opportunity to address a number of your questions and comments, while introducing you to some new online features.

The hub of BCoE interactive content is the college’s Web site. The site was relaunched in July with a new look and new features. It can be found at www.bagley.msstate.edu. If you haven’t explored the new site we encourage you to do so.

The new site design features a calendar of upcoming BCoE events, as well as a newsroom, which highlights recent news items. A navigation menu across the top of the page allows users to virtually explore the college and find information about topics of interest including programs, academics and research.

A “media” navigational tab allows users to easily access archived podcasts, electronic newsletters and issues of Momentum magazine. As part of our ongoing efforts, we are working to increase digital access to many BCoE publications, including our annual report. As these features become available, they will be announced in the electronic newsletter. These archived materials can assist alumni in recruiting students to MSU, as they provide a look into the BCoE from the perspective of students, faculty and researchers.

College specific information for perspectives, such as scholarships, admissions and requirements can be found under the “home” tab. General university information about link admission and scholarships can be found on that office's Web site. Contacts within each office would be happy to answer any question about enrollment and financial aid.

The “departments” navigational tab offers access to each of the BCoE’s academic departments’ respective Web sites, much like the “research tab” offers connections to the research centers and labs. The individual sites can help users identify points of contact and, in many cases, access information about current events. While the college’s publications seek to highlight each area of the college, those interested in more specialized communication might enjoy the supplemental information provided at these sites.

Many respondents expressed an interest in contacting the Alumni Association. Its Web site is www.msufoundation.com. Links provided in each electronic newsletter and on the college’s Web site can also direct users to the Alumni Association.

Based on survey responses, these additional university related sites might be of interest to readers.

Mississippi State University – www.msstate.edu, provides virtual access to the university, student and faculty features, announcements, headline and current event sections.

MSU’s Career Center – www.career.msstate.edu, offers alumni access to job postings and opportunities from a variety of employers.

M-State Athletics – www.mstateathletics.com is the official site of MSU sports. It provides, game day and ticket information, as well as current news and an online store.

Readers may also subscribe or unsubscribe to BCoE electronic communications by following links provided within each publication.

If you would like to subscribe to our Momentum mailing list for hard copy publications, please send your information to publications@bagley.msstate.edu.

As always, we love hearing from you and are glad to assist in any way possible. If you have a story that you would like to share with our readership, please contact publications or any member of the publications staff to let us know.
