2014 Mission Intermodal Excellence

Eggbert is changing up his trip around the world.  Mission Eggcellence is now Mission Intermodal Excellence!

Mission Intermodal Excellence (MIE) is a dynamic new curriculum for the middle level student (grades 4-8) to explore Intermodal Transportation through a variety of hands-on project based learning activities.  Teachers who attend the MIE training will learn the advantages and challenges of using intermodal transportation for moving goods and people through the global networks of roads, rail, ships and air transportation.

Participating teachers will receive instruction on implementing activities as well as attend develop their own learning through instruction and field trips to better understand intermodal transportation to locations such as Federal Express hubs, Tenn Tombigbee  lock and dam system, and local railways systems.   Additionally, a variety of teaching activities and materials will be shared to allow teachers to share the highly effective and relevant curriculum in their own classroom that can be easily differentiated as needed.  Culminating activities will be student competitions asking students to propose solutions to issues of transportation safety and intermodal planning.

Teachers will receive activity supplies, stipend and instructional materials.  Housing and meal costs will also be provided as needed.  Seats are very limited.
