In the Dorman Blaine Congressional Fellowship program at Mississippi State University, engineering students will not only learn about important working skills, but more importantly...opening a new door into their professional careers.

- Assisting with preparation of briefings for members of the House and Senate

- Utilizing computer skills for presentations, reports and Intranet activities
- Giving tours of the Capitol Building to constituent visitors!
- Assisting professional staff members with constituent mail, computer tasks, and office details

Beginning in the fall of 1999, the Congressional Fellowship Program became possible through the generosity of Dorman Blaine. A 1961 civil engineering graduate, Mr. Blaine's endowment pays for partial support of the fellow's expenses.
- Accommodations (rent, utilities, and furniture rental) close to the House and Senate offices
- Travel-related expenses
- Meal expenses stipend
- Moving expenses stipend
Fellows must be currently enrolled engineering undergraduates in good academic standing at Mississippi State University who:
- Demonstrate leadership skills in the classroom and involvement in college activities, professional organizations and honorary societies. Community and civic participation is encouraged.
- Possess strong oral, written and research skills
- Desire to understand the political process and serve others
