With today’s integrated global economy, engineers must understand other cultures, other ways of doing business, and be a part of collaborations that span the globe.  In order to help engineering students be better prepared for the global workplace, the James Worth Bagley College of Engineering at Mississippi State University has developed a portfolio of opportunities and joined with other universities to provide students and faculty with opportunities to gain international experience and study abroad in a variety of interesting places.

Overview

The international programs offer opportunities for students to work and study in different countries and experience a variety of cultures.  The programs include a few weeks abroad (a single intersession course), a summer term abroad (Burke Study Abroad Program in Grenoble, France), and finally a semester or year abroad (Global E3 program).  Through these programs, students learn about engineering,  the humanities and the arts, international business, and the changing global economic environment. International travel and study is a broadening experience from an educational, cultural, and professional standpoint and can be a competitive advantage in the job market. Students develop insights about themselves, the United States, and the country's image abroad.  For most study abroad programs in the BCoE, students are selected via application. To learn more about these programs, click on one of the links below.
