Bagley Fellowships
Bagley PhD Fellowship Bagley Fellowships are provided as supplement to other fellowships, teaching assistantships, or research assistantship. One of the goals is to provide incentive for qualifying students to enter directly into a PhD program after the BS degree. A second goal is to provide incentive for outstanding students with an MS degree to stay or return for a PhD degree. Most important is the goal of attracting students from other universities into a PhD program in the Bagley College of Engineering. Only US citizens or permanent residents are eligible. Because the fellowship is intended as a supplement, another fellowship or graduate assistant stipend must be available. That stipend may be from teaching, service or research and must continue throughout the time the fellowship is provided. As such, the same conditions for continuing the assistantship also apply to the fellowship. A student must maintain a 3.5 GPA and make satisfactory progress on degree and research. The award of fellowship will be based on academic record at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The fellowship award will be $6000 per year (prorated on a twelve month basis) and will be in addition to any other fellowship or assistantship. In addition, a $500 per year book expense award will be made and an annual development award of $1,500 will be included for the student to attend a conference, workshop or training session. Choice of that venue will be made in consultation with the student’s major advisor. Maximum duration of the fellowship is four years. All Bagley Fellows are to be nominated by a department head. |
