K-12 Outreach School Visit Request Form

The mission of the Bagley College of Engineering K-12 Outreach office is to engage and expose young people to the field of engineering as well as the variety of potential careers and opportunities within the field; encourage young people to explore their personal interest within the engineering fields; and to bring attention to engaging a diverse population of future engineers. This mission is met in part by offering limited school related visits either on your school campus or on Mississippi State University’s campus. These visits can range from engineering design activities, teacher professional development, and limited tours. Please complete the digital form below or complete and submit this pdf form.

To request a school visit, this form should be submitted with at least a 60 days notice.
All school visits occur between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. CST.

A cancelation notice must be provided 7 days prior to school visit.
If cancelation does not occur within this time schools will be responsible for half the cost of the event.

Schools will be invoiced for the cost.

K-12 Outreach visits your school/classroom

Note: must be located within a 30 mile radius of MSU (exceptions may apply)
Cost: $10 per participant
Expectations: Teachers and other chaperones are expected to remain in the room/area with the K-12 outreach team and participate as leaders in activities and take full responsibility of classroom behavior management.

 

Your school/classroom visits BCoE K-12 Outreach on MSU campus

Note: limit of maximum of 50 students
Cost: $10 per participant with NO lunch voucher provided or $20 per participant with lunch voucher provided.
Expectations:

  • It is the responsibility of the school to provide the proper amount of chaperones.
  • Chaperones –
    • One chaperone for every 6 participants ages 4-5
    • One chaperone for every 8 participants ages 6-8
    • One chaperone for every 10 participants ages 9-14
    • One chaperone for every 12 participants ages 15-17
  • Teachers and other chaperones are expected to remain in the room/area with the K-12 outreach team and participate as leaders in activities and take full responsibility of classroom behavior management.

 

Teacher Professional Development

Our office offers STEM related PD specific to the engineering design process and science process skills and outdoor PD. All professional development offered can be modified to school preference and incorporated into all content and grade levels.

Cost:

  • PD on your school campus - $150.00 per hour with a minimum of 4 hours.
  • PD on MSU’s campus – Limited to 60 persons. $150.00 per hour with a minimum of 4 hours and $15.00 per participant to cover lunch and one snack/coffee/water; or $8.00 per participant to cover one snack/coffee/water.

The Bagley College of Engineering K-12 outreach office does not benefit monetarily from a school visit. All costs cover swag, supplies for activities, student worker compensation, and travel/parking. It is highly recommended that schools visiting MSU arrive by bus. It is the responsibility of these visiting school to purchase parking passes if more than 5 are needed. Schools will be sent an invoice after the visit occurs.

Prices can be negotiated or waived depending on content requested.
