Bagley Ph.D. student wins prestigious scholarship

083116 Mahtabi HeadshotBagley College of Engineering Ph.D. candidate Mohammad “MJ.” Mahtabi has been chosen as one of three recipients of the 2016 International Graduate Scholarship from the American Society for Testing and Materials.

The ASTM announcement states that “Mahtabi … will use the scholarship to study the mechanical and fatigue behavior of nickel-titanium alloys (Nitinol), which are used in aerospace and biomedicine. ASTM’s fatigue and fracture committee (E08) mentored Mahtabi, who presented at an ASTM workshop in 2014. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tehran and his master’s from the Iran University of Science and Technology.”
