Marion Harris and Will Bunker became friends while students at Mississippi State University. After graduation, they decided to partner in some business ventures in Russia. While the ventures did not result in financial success, they gained invaluable experience and knowledge that shaped and molded their successful careers.
Bunker graduated in 1992 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He founded Match.com, an Internet dating site, which he sold in 1999. Currently, he is retired contemplating his next entrepreneurial adventure.
Harris is a top executive with Ford Motor Company. He is the director of strategic financial planning at the company’s Detroit headquarters. Marion received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mathematics at Mississippi State.
These two long-time friends recently joined forces again on September 25 while visiting campus to share their experiences with current engineering students in the Bagley College. At a luncheon hosted by the Entrepreneurship Program, both Harris and Bunker were able to engage with students comparing and contrasting corporate America, start-up Internet businesses and entrepreneurial opportunities available throughout the different business settings. Engineering students also enjoyed a more formal presentation from both alumni later that afternoon.
