STARKVILLE, Miss.— Dr. Lesley Strawderman received accolades at the American Society for Engineering Education’s annual conference as she accepted the elected position of secretary/treasurer for the organization’s Industrial Engineering Division.
Strawderman, an assistant professor of industrial and systems engineering (ISE) for the Bagley College of Engineering (BCoE), will serve in the position during the 2009-10 term. As a member of the board of directors, Strawderman joins a network of ISE experts who are dedicated to promoting and improving engineering and technology education as it pertains to the field of industrial engineering.
“In order for the BCoE to remain a leader in offering students the most interesting and original curriculum, as well as research experiences in working with state-of-the-art technology, we must recruit and retain bright and enthusiastic young faculty members like Lesley Strawderman,” said Dr. Sarah Rajala, dean of the BCoE. “We congratulate Dr. Strawderman and we’re proud to have someone of her caliber on our team.”
Strawderman received her doctorate in industrial engineering from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Science in industrial engineering from Pennsylvania State University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from Kansas State University. She joined the Mississippi State industrial and systems engineering faculty in August 2006.
Strawderman’s research interests center around human factors and ergonomics. She is particularly interested in the application of usability metrics in service quality improvement. Her research includes topics such as health care process improvement, consumer product design, cognitive processing, safety systems, and customer satisfaction.
