Gipson Court

March 29, 2000

Thanks to the generous donation of E. M. “Hoot” and Doris Gipson of Gipson Steel, Inc. of Meridian, MS, a new full-scale model showing a wide variety of steel connections will soon be installed in the area between McCain Engineering Building, Carpenter Hall, and Etheredge Chemical Engineering Building.

Enclosed within a park named “Gipson Court,” the sculpture is modeled after the sculpture featured in the AISC (American Institute of Steel Contractors) publication “Connecting Steel Members — A Teaching Guide.”

The Mississippi State University Physical Plant and Campus Landscape are constructing the project, estimated for completion in Spring 2000. A large site plan is available by clicking on the image at the right.

More information on the project is available from the MSU Physical Plant and Campus Landscape.
