Assistant professor in mechanical engineering Keith Walters recently accepted a generous donation from Fluent, Inc., to support his research on turbulence modeling and CFD.
Fluent donated $25,000 cash to Walters, and the company has also donated a sizable license for use of its software. Fluent is the leading provider of commercial CFD-related software.
The donation will provide unlimited training for any student, staff or faculty member in the SimCenter for three years.
“Dr. Keith Walters, along with the other SimCenter researchers, should be commended on their outstanding work as recognized by this significant donation,” said David Marcum, endowed professor of mechanical engineering and director of the Computational Simulation and Design Center (SimCenter).
The SimCenter was formed in July 2000 as part of the Engineering Research Center within the College of Engineering at MSU. The mission of the ERC SimCenter is to serve MSU, the U.S. government and industry through research and development of advanced computational modeling, simulation and design of physical systems to solve real world problems.
