Engineering students receive honors through Air Force ROTC

STARKVILLE—Several engineering students received awards from the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps for the Spring 2006 semester. Awards are as follows:

Senior aerospace engineering major Christine Schudrowitz received a $3,000 annual scholarship from the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, which will be presented in the fall semester.

Schudrowitz also received the American Legion General Military Excellence Award and an award from the Air Force Association.

Senior civil engineering majors Andrew Jouben and Christopher Craft are two of 40 nationwide to receive the Society of American Military Engineers Award, which recognizes the top 20 outstanding Air Force ROTC cadets in their junior and senior years.

Senior aerospace engineering major Curtis Lloyd received the National Defense Industrial Association award for outstanding performance in officer training, for maintaining a high standard in academic achievement and leadership, and for displaying exceptional interest in all matters pertaining to defense preparedness and national security.

The George C. Marshall/Henry H. Arnold Award was given to William Barksdale, a senior aerospace engineering major, for demonstrated leadership potential through outstanding performance in academics, military skills, extracurricular activities and physical fitness. The award honors U.S. Army Gen. George Calett Marshall and Air Force Gen. Henry Hap Arnold.

The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association ROTC Honor Certificate Award was given to senior aerospace engineering major Boston Little, who also received the Military Order of the Purple Heart for achieving academic excellence.

Senior aerospace engineering major Samuel Berryhill received the Sons of the American Revolution award.

Sophomore aerospace engineering major Charles Burgess received the Military Order of World Wars.

The Air Force ROTC Warrior Spirit Award was given to Little, Berryhill, and recent aerospace engineering graduate Russell Williams.

Barksdale, Craft, Jouben, electrical engineering major Charles Hill, Little, Lloyd, Odom and Schudrowitz were all awarded the Air Force ROTC Academic Honors Award for maintaining at least a 3.0 grade point average during the 2005 academic year.
