Christine E. Cuicchi

Christine E. Cuicchi is a distinguished leader in high-performance computing (HPC) with a career spanning 29 years in the Department of Defense (DoD) High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP).

Ms. Cuicchi earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering in 1994 and a Master of Science in Computational Engineering in 1999, both from Mississippi State University.

Throughout her career in the HPCMP, Ms. Cuicchi has held various significant roles. From 2013 to 2018, she served as the HPCMP Associate Director for HPC Centers, managing five DoD Supercomputing Resource Centers (DSRCs) with a combined annual budget of $120 million and a workforce of over 350 people. In 2019, Ms. Cuicchi became the first female director of the Navy DoD Supercomputing Resource Center (Navy DSRC) in its 34-year history.

She has been instrumental in the procurement and operation of some of the largest, most powerful supercomputers in the HPCMP, which provide critical computational resources to thousands of DoD researchers, enabling advancements across numerous scientific disciplines.

For nearly three decades, Ms. Cuicchi has been a dedicated volunteer for SC, the International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage, and Analysis. In 2018, she was selected as the General Chair for the SC20 conference. In this position, she led a team of over 750 volunteers to transition the typically in-person event, which attracts 14,000 attendees, to a fully virtual conference in under eight months due to the global pandemic. The virtual conference drew over 7,400 attendees from a record 115 countries.

Ms. Cuicchi received the Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award in 2017 and 2021, and the Armed Forces Civilian Service Medal in 2006. She delivered the keynote address at the inaugural Mississippi High Performance Computing (MS HPC) Conference in 2024.

A native of Starkville and a long-time resident of Diamondhead, Mississippi, Christine enjoys cheering on her nephews in their academic and athletic endeavors, dancing to Cajun and Zydeco music, and collecting local folk art.
