$28,200 given to the Bagley College of Engineering

ExxonMobil announced that $1.7 million has been contributed in departmental grants to 87 colleges and universities throughout the country to support various academic programs. Through this program, Mississippi Sate University will receive $34,200 from ExxonMobil (Bagley College of Engineering will obtain $28,200 and the College of Business & Industry will receive $6,000.)

The grant allows selected academic departments to allocate the money for various educational purposes including scholarships, field trips, visiting speakers, equipment purchases, student and faculty ravel to academic-related activities, and other education projects. ExxonMobil awards the grants based on schools that offer degrees in subjects from which it recruits employees.

“Supporting higher education has always been a strong priority for ExxonMobil,” said Amy Patton, Global Recruiting Organization, ExxonMobil. “This program enables us to provide funding o colleges and universities who play a pivotal role in preparing students to enter the workforce. ExxonMobil is proud to provide support to the Bagley College of Engineering which will help to enhance departments whose academic focus aligns with the workforce needs of ExxonMobil.”

The amount of the grant is based on several factors including the number of employees graduated from the specific university.

The Departmental Grant Program presents only a portion of the ExxonMobil’s overall support of education. In 21005, ExxonMobil Foundation, Exxon Mobil Corporation, and its divisions and affiliates provided $42 million in contributions to educational initiatives worldwide.
