STARKVILLE, Miss – A computer science major in the Bagley College of Engineering recently became the newest recipient of the Hilton Hotels Scholarship for information technology.

Awarded to junior computer science major, William “M.J.” Hill, this one-year scholarship recognizes excellence in leadership and academia. This recognition also comes with an invitation to tour Hilton’s headquarters in Memphis, Tenn., and funding for the department of computer science and engineering’s information technology program.

“I am very thankful and excited to have received this scholarship,” Hill said. “I look forward to accepting the invitation to visit the companies headquarters and see what opportunities are available with my degree.”

A native of State Line, Miss., Hill graduated first in his class at Greene County High School. In his time at MSU he has been active in outreach activities, Increasing Minority Access to Graduate Education and the National Society of Black Engineers. He is on track to graduate in May 2011 and hopes to attend graduate school to pursue a master’s degree.

The Hilton Hotel Scholarship has been awarded annually at MSU since 2003. It reflects the companies effort to build a relationship with the school that has provided quality graduates and employees to the company.
