Engineering Alumnus of the Year

Henry W. “Buddy” Faulkner was recently named as the Bagley College of Engineering Alumnus of the Year. He received a bachelor’s of science in industrial engineering from Mississippi State in 1966. He subsequently obtained an M.B.A. from Athens College in Alabama.
Buddy Faulkner is the Founder and Principal of Advanced Sales Institute, Inc. He is a leading authority on sales and marketing advanced strategies and processes and consults to companies of all sizes, from start-up to Fortune 50, on installing processes in sales, marketing, account management and establishing strategic alliances. He has conducted advanced sales training programs for over 10,000 people on six continents. His training and consulting have helped client firms achieve record sales and profits while significantly improving customer satisfaction.
Mr. Faulkner has held several prior positions in sales and executive management. He served American Photo Group, Inc. as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing where he was a member of the Executive Committee. While managing the salesforce, marketing group and an in-house ad agency, he directed phenomenal sales growth that resulted in the firm being named by INC Magazine as the #1 fastest growing privately held company in the U.S. for a five year period of time. Faulkner was a Group President for Kellwood Company where he initiated a strategic account program, installed total quality and automated key functions. Faulkner held several positions in quality management with the 3M Company where he pioneered much of their total quality initiative.
Faulkner played an instrumental role in helping the College secure the funding for the Six Sigma program that has been initiated through the Department of Industrial Engineering. 3M and its Foundation granted the College around $500,000 for the Six Sigma program.
