MSU engineering seniors recognized for outstanding work

STARKVILLE – Miss.-Ten Mississippi State seniors have been recognized for outstanding achievement within their respective departments of the university’s Bagley College of Engineering.

Majors ranking in the top 15 percent of their individual academic disciplines were honored Sept. 21 at the college’s eighth annual Outstanding Senior Recognition Banquet. One outstanding student from each of the 10 engineering degree programs was singled out for special recognition and a gift.

Interim college dean Robert P. Taylor welcomed guests. Computer engineering student and honoree Daniel May of Hattiesburg, president of Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society, gave the invocation.

College development director John Rush recognized companies or agencies that sponsored the event. They included Adtran, ChevronTexaco, ConocoPhillips, Denso, Diversified Technology Inc., Dow Chemical, Eaton Corporation, Egron Inc., ExxonMobil, Nissan, Smith and Nephew, Tennessee Valley Authority, and Waggoner Engineering, Inc.

The 2004 outstanding seniors included (by hometown):

BELMONT-Jeremy B. Wigginton, a biological engineering major, whose guardian is Jamie Wigginton.

BRANDON-Angela M. Spence, an aerospace engineering and physics major, and the daughter of Cheney and Diana Spence of Brandon and Jane Jackson of Philadelphia.

COLLINS-Marianna Rogers Easley, an industrial engineering major, and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Rogers. She is married to John Easley.

DECATUR, Ala.-Harold S. “Tommy” Thompson III, a mechanical engineering major, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold S. Thompson Jr.

FAYETTE-Leon Terry Bullen, a computer engineering major, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Bullen.

GULFPORT-Douglass W. Mayberry, a chemical engineering major, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglass Mayberry.

HOOVER, Ala.-Kevin C. Fernandes, an electrical engineering major and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Winni Fernandes.

MADISON-Kyle A. Frazier, a civil engineering major, and the son of Esther Frazier and the late Terry Frazier.

LOUISVILLE-Ben A. Hubbard, a software engineering major, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Hubbard.
