STARKVILLE, Miss. – Both a BCoE student chapter and its president recently received recognition from its national organization.
The MSU Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) chapter was one of 16 student groups honored with the Student Chapter Annual Award at the INFORMS Annual Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. MSU achieved the cum laude level of the award, recognizing outstanding student chapters with a strong motivation toward performance. The chapters were nominated out of 60 universities internationally.
Eghbal Rashidi, president of INFORMS at MSU and a doctoral student in industrial and systems engineering, was one of three members to win the organization’s Judith Liebman Award, as well. The national award recognizes students who show a strong commitment to community service and are leaders in their chapters.
INFORMS is the world’s largest society for professionals in the fields of operations research (O.R.), management science and analytics. Student chapters promote involvement in the field and networking.
