STARKVILLE, Miss. –The Southeast Section of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) has named John Brocato the Most Outstanding Campus Representative for this academic year.

The award recognizes ASEE campus representatives who have achieved excellence in that position by encouraging society participation and promotion throughout their respective campuses. This is the third time Brocato has earned this award since being selected for this position by the Bagley College of Engineering (BCoE).

“This is a great reflection on John’s work as a campus representative and all our faculty and staff for their participation in ASEE activities,” said Dr. Sarah Rajala, dean of the college of engineering and ASEE president.

Brocato joined the BCoE in 1999 and serves as the coordinator for the Shackouls Technical Communication Program. Through this position, he utilizes both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English, which he received from MSU, to help enhance the writing and speaking skills of engineering students.

ASEE is a national organization, which promotes excellence in engineering instruction, research, public service, and practice. It boasts over 12,000 members from more than 400 engineering colleges and affiliates. The southeastern section encompasses nine states, including, Florida, Georgia and Virginia, as well as Puerto Rico.
