STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Bagley College of Engineering’s online graduate programs rate in the top third nationally according to U.S. News and World Report’s latest rankings.

The website lists the Bagley College as 21st among the 74 engineering distance programs ranked. It is one of four graduate-level distance programs at Mississippi State ranked this year. The university comes in at No. 16 in the computer information and technology listing, while business and education are Nos. 64 and 107, respectively.

“The quality and diversity of our online graduate engineering programs are of tremendous value to working professional seeking advanced degrees in engineering,” said Masoud Rais-Rohani, associate dean for research and graduate studies.

Columbia University holds the top spot in the engineering category with an overall score of 100. The University of California-Los Angeles (97) and University of Wisconsin-Madison (93) round out the top three.

The Bagley College’s overall score ties it with Washington State University. It is followed by Ohio State University, the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville, and the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, in a three-way tie for No. 23.

U.S. News and World Report rates schools based on their scores in four areas: faculty credentials and training, student services and technology, student engagement, and admissions selectivity. The scores in each category, as well as other statistical information, were collected from surveys and questionnaires completed by each institution.

Established in 1933, U.S. News and World Report releases annual rankings of universities and individual academic programs from across the country. The most current list places the Bagley College’s undergraduate and graduate programs among the top 100 in the nation.
