The Bagley College of Engineering at Mississippi State University welcomes Guoyun (Tammy) Tian as research associate II at the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems. Tian, who officially assumed her new position May 26, is responsible for high temperature electronics packaging development and reliability.

“We are excited to have Guoyun on our team,” said Paul Martin, her supervisor at CAVS. “Silicon carbide is being considered for a number of challenging environments, including temperatures as high at 600 degrees Celsius. In order to demonstrate the capability of SiC power electronics, we will need to evaluate the reliability of the devices and develop new packaging technologies. Guoyun’s background is ideally suited to this challenge.”

As senior engineer for five years in the Center for Advanced Vehicle Electronics at Auburn University, Tian worked closely work industry members developing new electronic materials and implementing new technologies for advanced packaging and manufacturing of electronics with special emphasis on the harsh environmental and reliability requirements of the vehicle industry.

“This is an outstanding growth opportunity for me—allowing an application of my prior emphasis on the advanced electronic material development, component assembly and packaging to the electronic packaging and reliability of vehicle systems at CAVS,” Tian said.

Tian earned master’s degrees in solid state physics from Beijing Science Technology University and in electrical and computer engineering from Auburn University.
