Congratulations!

April 29, 2008

Congratulations to Dr. Mark Horstemeyer, a professor in mechanical engineering, for receiving MSU’s 2008 Ralph E. Powe Award. Representing the university’s highest research honor, this award is given to Horstemeyer in recognition of his work with the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems (CAVS). As the CAVS chair in computation solid mechanics, he puts much of his effort into the study of the mechanics of materials and is currently overseeing a multiscale research project related to the modeling of automotive components and systems. He often uses his research activities to help train young engineers and recently served as the faculty advisor for MSU’s Society of Automotive Engineers Formula-One team.

The Ralph E. Powe award was presented to Horstemeyer April 29, as part of the university’s annual Research Awards Banquet. This award is reserved for outstanding, nationally recognized, competitive researchers who have an influence on students’ scholarly work and professional activities.
