STARKVILLE, Miss. – The computer science and engineering department recently awarded Bagley College of Engineering students with departmental scholarships.
CSE has several annual and endowed scholarship opportunities available for students that aid with tuition and loans, as well as room and board. These scholarships target students of specific majors and require academic achievement, as well as financial need.
Donna Reese, the CSE department head, expressed her excitement for the department’s ability to offer these scholarships to students.
“Because our department is a relatively young discipline, we haven’t been able to offer scholarships for as long as some of the other departments,” Reese said. “But recently, some of our alumni and previous faculty have given back, and it really means something to have the ability to reward the students for their hard work, campus involvement and accomplishments.”
Reese also offered advice to students who may apply in the future, stating that engagement in student activities, leadership positions, work experience and community service are all excellent ways for students to stand out.
Recipients of the six CSE departmental scholarships included 11 students majoring in computer science, software engineering and computer engineering.
