Engineering professor recognized as 2021 Highly-Cited Researcher

STARKVILLE, Miss.— Jenny Du, a professor in Mississippi State University’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been recognized as a 2021 Highly Cited Researcher.

Du was recognized by Clarivate in the field of Geosciences. Clarivate identifies researchers whose papers rank in the top one present of citations in their field for the year in the Web of Science database.

“The data used is about citations by other researchers.” Du said. “I’m glad to know my work is recognized by my colleagues all over the world, having high influence on their work.”

Du has authored more than 500 publications and has been cited over 20,000 times since joining the Mississippi State faculty in 2004. She is currently researching high dimensional data analytics for remote sensing images.

“We have active cross-disciplinary and cross-college collaboration here at Mississippi State. We have colleagues in the geography, agriculture, and forestry departments, who all use the remote sensing data for their domain,” Du said. “This kind of interdisciplinary collaboration and just the related discussion could be very fruitful and very inspiring.”

Du acknowledged Mississippi State’s support for their faculty in terms of research.

“Mississippi State helped me grow a lot with excellent research environment and excellent colleagues who are doing similar type of work in my department and across the campus,” Du said. “I’m grateful that this collaboration really helps me in my entire career.”

Du was joined in the Clarivate listings by Jim Chrisman, a faculty member in Mississippi State’s Department of Management and Information Systems who was recognized in the field of economics and business.
