The Bagley College of Engineering’s K-12 outreach program has extended the deadline for several of their summer camp applications to April 15, 2009.
MSTI: 07/12/09 – 07/25/09
The Mississippi Summer Transportation Institute (MSTI) includes hands-on activities, development of communication skills, and utilization of technology and skills required in today’s workforce. This camp is for students currently in grades 9th-10th.
Robotics: 06/07/09 – 06/13/09
This is a week-long residential summer program that offers an introduction to MSU Engineering. Participants will use the engineering design process to design, build and test a remote-controlled robot. Currently enrolled 8th-10th graders are eligible for this camp.
CSI Bagley: 06/14/09-06/20/09
CSI Bagley will be an intense, action-packed week-long exploration of digital forensics and computer security. Students currently in grades 8th-11th are encouraged to apply. Digital forensics is about solving computer crimes, and involves exploring computers for evidence indicating identity theft, cyber bullying, phishing, etc. Students will be given instruction on how to use the tools associated with digital forensics as well as have opportunities to solve a crime as a team. Cost is $400 per attendee.
UFPME: 6/21/09 – 6/27/09
The University Familiarization Program for Minorities in Engineering (UFPME) for incoming tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade students from Mississippi. As when initiated in 1990, the summer program meets the needs of underrepresented minorities with emphasis in science, mathematics and engineering.
Women in Action Camp: 6/28/09 – 7/01/09
This program is designed to pique the interest of young women at an earlier age. SWE coordinates this program for current 7th and 8th graders to experience diverse aspects of engineering fields. Hands-on activities, laboratory investigations and engineering presentations enable these young women to develop an understanding and appreciation of these engineering disciplines and their responsibilities.
