Three teams win funding to further their start up businesses

April 17, 2007

The Jack Hatcher Entrepreneurship Program has been designed for engineering students who plan to pursue a career combining technical and business skills. This could include a business startup or working for an entrepreneur in the early years of the business.

Gerald Nelson, director of the program, helped arrange a Business Plan Competition this spring. All engineering students who were completing a project and business plan in either Senior Design or for an Entrepreneurship Certificate project were eligible to compete. Business plan presentations were made in 20-minute intervals on April 13, 2007.

Thanks to a generous donation from the program founder Jack Hatcher, the teams that placed were awarded a cash prize to further help their start up businesses.
