Thanks to a group of students at Mississippi State University, rocket science is the gift that keeps on giving
Students from the BCoE took top honors in the two international competitions at the 2008 International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS).
Mississippi State University's Dr. Clay Walden and Glenn Dennis, from the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems Extension (CAVS-E), were recently presented the Co-Practitioner of the Year Award at the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) conference.
Several Bagley College of Engineering faculty members moved to the head-of-the-class recently after being named the recipients of this year’s College of Engineering Faculty Awards. Presented as part of the annual BCoE Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day, the awards recognize achievements in both teaching and research.
William P. Cleveland, double majoring in aerospace engineering and computer engineering, has been awarded the Foglesong Scholarship from the engineering society Tau Beta Pi. Cleveland will receive a $2,000 award which he is applying towards a summer research program in Brussels, Belgium at the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics.
As part of a recent campus awards ceremony several Bagley College of Engineering (BCoE) graduate students were recognized for their leadership, service and dedication to the university.
Congratulations to Mary C. Emplaincourt, an instructor in mechanical engineering, for receiving Mississippi State’s 2008 Faculty Irvin Atly Jefcoat Excellence in Advising award.
Mississippi State’s Bagley College of Engineering (BCoE) introduces a new member to the dean’s advisory council this month. Marc Paganini joins the dean’s advisory council as the newest and one of only a few select non-alumnus member.
Congratulations to Dr. Mark Horstemeyer, a professor in mechanical engineering, for receiving MSU’s 2008 Ralph E. Powe Award. Representing the university’s highest research honor, this award is given to Horstemeyer in recognition of his work with the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems (CAVS).
The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Southeastern Section has recognized Dr. Adrienne Minerick, as an individual whose work is advancing excellence in all aspects of engineering education and engineering technology.
Student team soars to competition success

MSU Challenge X Team receives financial support from local industry
In an effort to support education and research, ServerCorr has partnered with MSU’s national champion Challenge X team. The steel company’s chief executive officer Jim Hrusovsky presented the hybrid car design team with a $5,000 donation to fund the research and purchase of new battery technology. [read more]

Sarah Rajala named dean
Dr. Sarah Rajala grew-up on a small farm in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Many may say the trials, tribulations and responsibilities of growing up on the family farm is what gave Rajala the perseverance to succeed in her career. She will tell you that the experience gave her the confidence and independence to explore new opportunities, even when people would tell her when something could not be done. [read more]
