Dr. Terrance Roshad West is a distinguished engineer and leader based in Madison, Alabama. He currently serves as the Chief of the Missile Science and Technology (S&T) Division for the US Army DEVCOM Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC). Alongside his military civil service, he is the entrepreneur behind The Leaf Cigar Emporium in Madison.
After earning his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State University in 2009, Dr. West joined AvMC, where he quickly established himself as an expert in Patriot missile systems. His early innovations included automating data analysis processes, reducing the turnaround times from three days to just five hours. Within four years, he rose to become the PAC-3 System Engineering Function Lead.
Dr. West’s career is marked by high-level strategic oversight. In 2016, he was competitively selected as the Executive Officer to the AMRDEC Director, supporting the execution of a $4 billion annual budget. His technical acumen later led him to the Technology Development Directorate and a developmental detail as the Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Division Chief for the PEO Missiles and Space SHIELD Project Office. In his current role, he oversees the strategy and execution of all Missile S&T maturation initiatives, including vital Congressional Adds for Army Modernization Priorities.
A recognized leader, Dr. West received the Modern-Day Technology Leader Award at the 2023 Black Engineer of the Year Conference. He remains deeply involved in the professional community as a member of IEEE, NSBE, and the Premium Cigar Association. He also serves on the advisory board for Mississippi State University’s electrical and computer engineering department. Dr. West is married to Joshualyn Nicole West.
