Internship Spotlight: Jean-Paul LeBlanc

September 22, 2021

Jean-Paul LeBlanc, a civil engineering major in MSU’s Bagley College of Engineering, spent part of his summer interning with Fenstermaker in his hometown of Lafayette, Louisiana.

Founded in 1950, Fenstermaker is an engineering consulting firm that specializes in surveying and mapping, engineering and environmental consulting.

“The most exciting part of my internship experience was going out in the field and seeing how projects I am working on are coming together,” LeBlanc said. “I thought every project this summer was interesting because I learned something new from each one. The project that stood out to me most was designing a detention basin off Rue du Belier across from Acadiana High in Scott, Louisiana. This project made me realize that design is more than a bunch of calculations. It involves many different types of people, programs, and proposals.”

During his time in the Rula School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, LeBlanc has served as the construction captain of the concrete canoe team and participated on the surveying team.
