Letter from the Dean: August 2023

As we get ready for the start of an exciting fall semester, I wanted to take a moment and send out a few updates about the college:

• Read about the student awards received at the American Society of Civil Engineers Gulf Coast Symposium – including “concrete cornhole.”
• Mentored by outreach coordinator Dr. Tina Gibson, MSMS graduate Danielle McConnell was named as a USDA Wallace-Carver Fellow.
• Thank you to everyone who participated in the Catalpa Creek Watershed cleanup organized by the MSU chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.
• Computer science and engineering professor Dr. Ed Swan was recognized with the Visualization and Graphics Technical Community (VGTC) Virtual Reality Service Award by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
• The MSU Foundation set an all-time high fundraising record with $259.9MM raised, including a record of $41.8MM for the Bagley College of Engineering.
