MSU Bagley College of Engineering launches Engineering the Future campaign

May 17, 2023

Imagine having age-appropriate STEM activities delivered to your mailbox throughout the year. With the launch of the Engineering the Future campaign, the Mississippi State Bagley College of Engineering is doing just that.

The campaign is the brainchild of Shana Lee, Director of Educational Outreach & Support Programs, and her staff in the K-12 Outreach Office located in the Bagley College of Engineering. She said the campaign came about because the college’s summer camps fill up quickly each year. She knew her office needed to expand its offering to help elementary-aged children around Mississippi, not just those that could come to MSU’s campus, discover a love of STEM.

“We hope to spark in students an interest in engineering while introducing them to educational and career opportunities,” Lee explained.

The program, which is for kindergarten through 8th grade, begins in early September. Lee explained there is something for everyone and that each mailout will include information, activities, letters from engineers and other items and bonus content will be shared through emails and social media. Lee said that the program would run through one academic year from August to May, costing $40 a year. Registration is live now and will close on August 15, 2023.
