Blair Reed, the business manager for department of industrial & systems engineering, earned the Newcomer Career Professional Excellence Award from the Society of Research Administrators International.

“I was honored to find out that I had been nominated for the award and very grateful that someone considered me as deserving of the nomination,” said Reed. “To say that I was surprised when I was chosen as the winner is an understatement.”

Reed graduated from Mississippi State University in 2004 with a degree in business administration and spanish. She is currently the business manager in the department of industrial & systems engineering, which includes departmental research administration duties.

Nominees for SRAI awards are recommended by colleagues for their outstanding work as a research administrator. The Excellence Award recognizes three SRAI members who have gone above and beyond to meet the Society’s standards in expanding the knowledge of research administration as a newcomer, mid-career, and advanced professional.

“I am thrilled to be a positive representative of Mississippi State University within the Society of Research Administrators International,” Reed added.
